The family behind Colorado Grill is trying something different at one of their Fresno locations — offering premium beef burgers in a to-go setting.

Sporting black-and-white temporary signage bearing the new name, the Colorado Grill location on West Shaw Avenue is transitioning to Wagyu 2 Go, promising “bold flavor, fast service and quality you can taste,” according to a social media post Sunday.

Colorado Grill moved into the space at 2088 W. Shaw Ave., Ste. 3422, in 2017. It was previously home to Grilled Chz, a grilled cheese concept.

The Colorado Grill post assures customers that it is the same owners and team behind Wagyu 2 Go.

“Think of it as our laid-back little sister, still family-run, still fired up on the grill, just trimmed down to what we do best: burgers done right,” the post reads.

Wagyu beef comes from Japanese cattle breeds and is known for its high marbling and juicy tenderness due to their high-fat content.

In addition to Wagyu 2 Go, Colorado Grill operates two full-service restaurants — the original Fresno location at the corner of Herndon and Blackstone avenues; and its second restaurant in Clovis at the corner of Barstow and Willow avenues. The business also has a food truck.

Restaurateur Ali Nekumanesh transitioned the Fatburger franchise at the corner of Herndon and Blackstone avenues into the first Colorado Grill in 1998. His son Hossein Nekumanesh currently runs the second-generation family business.
