Fresno nonprofit Philanthropy Inspired by the Needs of our Community (PINC) was recently honored as the Nonprofit of the Year in the 23rd Assembly District.

Representatives from the nonprofit, which raises funds for other area nonprofits, were presented a resolution commemorating the award during a recent visit to Assemblymember Jim Patterson’s office as part of the 2nd-annual California Nonprofits Day in Sacramento on June 28.

PINC is an all-women charity group. Founded in 2008, it is has raised more $400,000 for such nonprofit organizations as Angel Babies of Hinds Hospice, Marjaree Mason Center and Make-A-Wish foundation of Central California.

Ashley Webster, circulation manager for The Business Journal, is a member of the group.

PINC just recently awarded $75,000 to benefit The Heart of the Horse Therapy Ranch in the Clovis foothills. The Heart of the Horse offers therapy rides to medically fragile children and other handicapped individuals.

The money was raised during the group’s 9th annual PINC Party, PINC Stampede, which was held at the Clovis Veterans Memorial District Auditorium in June.
