Gar Tootelian, Inc. (GAR), a family-owned business based in Reedley, has been nationally recognized by industry peers as the 2016 Ag Retailer of the Year.

The award, sponsored by Ag Retailers Association (ARA) and AgProfessional magazine, honors agricultural retailers who represent the best in innovative business practices, community and industry leadership, environmental stewardship, reliability, technology, utilization, customer service and effective employee development.

“It is truly gratifying to be recognized by your peers as a world class operation,” GAR President and CEO Greg Musson said in a statement. “But, what is truly humbling is the nearly 70 years of confidence and loyalty growers have shown in this small, family-owned operation that is GAR.”

GAR provides water, nutrition, regulatory and crop care advice and products to more than 1,500 growers throughout the Central Valley.

GAR is also known for is philanthropic efforts in the Valley. In 2011, GAR raised $1.65 million to expand the Clovis Medical Center emergency room, and GAR has raised nearly a half-million dollars in its annual Feeding Families Fund Drive to support the local Community Food Bank. GAR has also partnered with the Fresno Grizzlies’ Farm Grown Community Fund, the Fresno Chaffee Zoo’s Valley Farm and Valley PBS’ Valley’s Gold and Valley’s Gold Education through Agriculture.
