Fresno Pacific University is expanding guaranteed admission opportunities for Central Valley community college students through new agreements with four State Center Community College District colleges.
FPU will formalize the agreements with Madera Community College, Reedley College, Clovis Community College and Fresno City College during an Aug. 31 signing ceremony at the Warkentine Culture and Arts Center on FPU’s main campus.
FPU President André Stephens will sign individual agreements with the presidents of each college as part of the university’s Sunbird Flight Plan: Direct Route to Admission initiative.
The program is designed to provide community college students a clearer and more affordable path to transferring to FPU to complete a bachelor’s degree.
Creating pathways
“These partnerships strengthen the educational opportunities available to students throughout the Central Valley,” Stephens said. “By working together, we can create clear pathways for students to continue their education at Fresno Pacific, grow in knowledge, faith and purpose, and prepare for meaningful careers and lives of service.”
State Center Chancellor Carole Goldsmith says the agreements are intended to reduce uncertainty in the transfer process and expand access to higher education.
“Together with Fresno Pacific University, we are expanding access to higher education and creating new opportunities for students to earn degrees and build meaningful, inspired futures,” Goldsmith said.
