The Fresno Bee announced its latest transition to a digitally focused platform, cutting back on its printing schedule by half.

The media outlet currently publishes a newspaper six days a week. As part of a journey to a “sustainable future,” there will only be three days with a publication, though the print quality will be higher, according to a story Friday by Christopher Kirkpatrick, senior editor of The Fresno Bee.

“This transition will also allow us to invest in making our digital experiences better, including a big update to the digital edition that I’m excited to share more about soon, and a new tool for commenting on stories,” wrote Kirkpatrick.

The transition will begin on July 8.

Print editions will be published on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and they will also be delivered by mail. The Sunday newspaper will arrive on Saturday because of the U.S. Post Service’s delivery schedule.

Readers can still buy single newspapers at select retail locations.

The Fresno Bee’s website will continue to post throughout the week. Current subscribers are encouraged to activate the digital access to the website. They will also receive correspondence from The Fresno Bee’s customer service team regardingg next steps.

Subscribers can also contact 800-877-3400.

“For The Bee to continue to provide you with essential coverage of our community and unsparing investigative reporting, we must transform our business to thrive in 2024 and beyond,” Kirkpatrick wrote.
