Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) has reached higher altitudes on a national ranking.

In a new study from Upgraded Points, an online tool for traveler airline points and miles, FAT ranked as the fifth-best airport for international travel during the holiday season.

To determine the best and worst airports for international travel, Upgraded Points calculated the average wait times for travelers going through customs.

During last year’s winter holiday season, FAT reported an average wait time of 10.9 minutes for international travelers.

Citizenship status played a role determine the ranking as well. U.S. citizens traveling through FAT reported an average wait time of 10.9 minutes while non-U.S. citizens saw an average wait of 11.6 minutes during the holiday travel season.

The average national wait time during the winter holidays in 2022 hovered just below 23 minutes.

Nearly half of U.S. travelers saw wait times of 15 minutes or less, with only 6.5% enduring waits of 60 minutes more.

John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana ranked at No. 1 with an average wait time of 4.6 minutes.

The airport with the longest wait time was the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport with an average wait 31.6 minutes.
