After more than three years in business, The Bar Method Clovis will close effective Sept. 13.

In a letter to members, owner Jennifer Hoekstra explained the closure of the Clovis location, which opened in 2016.

“We have done everything we can to grow and support our Clovis business, but have recently come to terms with the fact that it is no longer financially sustainable,” Hoekstra wrote.

The fitness studio focuses on barre exercises, using the resistance of your own body weight with postures inspired by ballet.

It was the second Bar Method franchise Hoekstra opened. A Fresno location she opened in 2013 will remain open.

Bar Method Clovis members can continue to use the Fresno location. Those seeking to cancel their membership can do so without early cancellation fees or penalties.

The closure will also mean a wider variety of classes and more class times at the Fresno location, according to Hoekstra’s letter.

“We will forever be grateful to this place and the clients who have so enriched our lives, and will truly miss our beautiful Clovis studio,” she wrote. “While this has been an incredibly painful choice, we aim to focus all of our energy towards our founding location in Fresno, and look forward to our Bar Method Clovis family joining us where it all began.”
