Moss Adams, the Valley’s top accounting firm, announced Thursday it has combined forces with a firm in Salinas.

The partnership takes effective Aug. 1, with 16 professionals (including two partners) from Ryan & McDonald LLP joining Moss Adams.

“We are proud to combine with a firm that shares our core values and sincere passion for the food and agribusiness industry,” said Jonathan Ryan, partner, Ryan & McDonald LLP. “This move allows us to expand our capabilities and provide a greater range of service offerings while maintaining the same commitment to client service.”

Ryan & McDonald has been providing tax and accounting services throughout the central coast since 2001, with expertise in food and agribusiness.

“Moss Adams has had solid growth in our footprint and services over the last several years. There’s a strategy behind this expansion: We go where our clients need us to be,” said Rebecca Pomering, chief practice officer, Moss Adams. “This combination falls in line with that strategy, building our capabilities in an important region for the agribusiness industry.”

Moss Adams entered the Fresno market in 2016 when it combined with accounting firm Morse Wittwer Sampson LLP. Moss Adams also absorbed professionals from a local Deloitte office that year.

in 2018 Moss Adams acquired Fresno-based Baker Peterson & Franklin.

Moss Adams is ranked the No. 1 accounting firm in the Central Valley with 36 local CPAs, according to The Business Journal’s 2020 Book of Lists. Headquartered in Seattle, Moss Adams has more than 3,400 professionals across 25-plus locations in the Western U.S.
