UnitedHealthcare announced it has reached a multi-year agreement with Community Health System in Fresno.

The agreement ensures that UnitedHealthcare members enrolled in employer-sponsored and individual commercial plans have access to Community hospitals and facilities in the Fresno area as part of their coverage network.

Members enrolled in UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare Advantage and Group Retiree plans will also have access to Community facilities and hospitals.

“Community Medical Centers is an important care provider, and we are pleased to have reached an agreement that preserves our members’ access to quality, affordable care,” said a UnitedHealthcare Spokesperson.

The Business Journal was first to report in December that contract talks between Community and United Healthcare had been unsuccessful, with United HealthCare members set to lose Community as an in-network facility effective Jan. 1

Members using Anthem Blue Cross and Cigna health coverage remain with expired health plan agreements with Community.
