The Business Journal won awards for its website and reporting at the Alliance of Area Business Publishers (AABP) over the weekend.
The AABP announced the winners of its Editorial Excellence Awards at its annual three-day summer conference in Washington D.C. on Saturday.
There were 115 Editorial Excellence Awards given out to newspaper and business magazine periodicals with Best Magazine going to Hawaii Business, and the Best Newspaper for small tabloids went to San Fernando Valley Business Journal.
The Best Newspaper award for large and medium tabloid went to Crain’s Chicago Business.
There were 484 entries from 37 different publications in the U.S. Canada, and Australia, making the competitive field impressive and diverse.
The Business Journal received two awards—the Silver Award for Best Scoop for Small Tabloids for its story on electric car company Faraday Future by staff reporter David Castellon, and the Bronze Award for Best Website.
“This is the first time in our 26-year history that we won two awards in different categories,” said Gordon Webster, publisher. “Its an honor to win a national award with so much competition we have with other business publications. There is lots of stiff competition on a national basis, so to come back with two awards is very special.”
