From a front-line crisis responder to programming officer, Leticia Campos has seen more than a decade of evolution at the Marjaree Mason Center (MMC).
Now, after 14 years of experience with the organization, Campos is stepping into the role of CEO. The position was formerly held by Nicole Linder, who stepped down in February after a nine-year tenure that saw vast expansion, including the relocation of the nonprofit’s operations to a new $21 million, 37,680 square-foot facility in Fresno.
Campos was selected to lead the organization following a nationwide search that identified her as the ideal candidate to guide the local nonprofit, according to a news release.
She assumed duties under her new title on Monday, April 20.
Campos served as interim CEO as well as chief programs officer. She began her time at the Marjaree Mason Center in 2012 providing crisis response and support to survivors. Campos has been integral in the expansion of critical programs, overseeing the center’s 24/7 crisis response, emergency shelter, housing programs, clinical and children’s services, community-based advocacy and prevention and education initiatives, according to the release.
She has also been a key player in strengthening community partnerships, including with law enforcement, social services, education centers and community-based organizations in Fresno County.
“Leticia is an exceptional leader whose experience, vision, and deep connection to our mission make her uniquely qualified to lead the Marjaree Mason Center into its next chapter,” said MMC Board President Kerri Horn. “Her journey within the organization, from direct services to executive leadership, reflects not only her expertise, but her profound dedication to the survivors we serve. The Board is confident in her ability to build on MMC’s strong foundation and continue expanding our impact in the community.”
Horn added that the Board supports Campos and her ability to build on their strong foundation, expanding community impact and widening the reach and ability of its mission.
Campos brings with her professional experience and personal insight, with a bachelor’s degree in social work from Fresno State and experience as a survivor. Her leadership reflects an understanding of the barriers faced by survivors and commitment to providing access to safety, dignity and healing, according to the release.
“It is an incredible honor to serve as CEO of the Marjaree Mason Center,” Campos said. “This organization has been at the heart of my life’s work, and I am deeply committed to continuing to uplift survivors, strengthen our programs, and expand our reach. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated team, partners, and community to build on our momentum and ensure that every individual and family we serve has the support they need to thrive.”
In her new role, Campos will focus on continuing to enhance services, community partnerships and promoting innovative solutions to address domestic violence throughout the region.
