Otherside Coffee Roasters is headed to northwest Fresno, but the local coffee concept is keeping the exact location under wraps.

In an Instagram teaser posted Sunday, Otherside announced, “Otherside is growing!” The video shows a woman circling words and letters on a puzzle taped to a window, eventually revealing “See you in NW Fresno.” The post identifies northwest Fresno as the destination but does not provide an address or opening timeline.

The announcement would mark a second location for Otherside, which operates at 2886 E. Shepherd Ave., Suite 101, at The Row at Heritage Grove.

What’s happening

The teaser quickly turned into a guessing game among Otherside’s Instagram followers.

Two locations emerged repeatedly in the comments: the area around Herndon and Marks avenues and Fig Garden Village.

“Herndon & marks,” one commenter wrote, drawing 25 likes. Otherside responded, “stay tuned for deets.”

Another commenter asked, “Taking over the Starbucks in fig garden?” Otherside replied, “stay tuned.”

Others also specifically guessed Fig Garden Village, while one commenter wrote, “I know exactly where this is and it’s NOT Herndon and Marks.”

None of the responses from Otherside confirms a location.

The Fig Garden Village speculation comes shortly after Starbucks announced the closure of its store at 704 W. Shaw Ave. The location was among two Fresno Starbucks stores included in a round of 250 North American closures announced in September.

There is no information provided by Otherside connecting its expansion to the former Starbucks space.

Why it matters

The expansion would add another location to a portfolio of Fresno-area restaurant concepts connected to partners Brandon Smittcamp and Kevin Koligian.

The group is also behind Saizon, Heirloom, Mayd Modern Mediterranean, Butterfish and The Lime Lite.

Otherside’s first location was teased in a similarly low-key fashion before opening near Saizon at The Row at Heritage Grove. In November 2024, its Instagram account posted an image of signage at the Shepherd Avenue storefront with the message, “Another step closer.”

The group has continued expanding its restaurant footprint. In August, Mayd and Butterfish announced plans for a dual-concept restaurant at Loma Vista Marketplace in Clovis.
