Global athletic apparel company Nike has signed a lease on a retail location at Fresno’s River Park shopping center.

That’s according to a report Thursday from real estate brokerage Commercial Retail Associates.

The store would be located at 7650 N. Blackstone Ave. on a parcel previously home to Italian restaurant Macaroni Grill, which closed in March 2020 and was demolished in 2021.

Ground has not yet broken on a new building, which according to the lease report would be 14,000 square-feet.

Efforts to reach Nike media relations and River Park owner Lance-Kashian & Co. were unsuccessful Thursday.

There is a Nike Factory Store at the Tulare Outlets about 53 miles south of Fresno. If the River Park location is a regular Nike retail store, it would be the only one between San Jose and Pasadena, according to the Nike website.

There are a total of 39 Nike stores in California, according to the website. Most are factory locations selling goods at a lower price point than a regular retail location.

The lease for Nike Retail Services, Inc. was brokered by Sam Bogdanovich, Nathan Negri, Jon Cox and Nathan Simpson with Commercial Retail Associates.

Reached Thursday morning, Bogdanovich declined to comment on the lease, referring questions to River Park officials.
