The Madera County Board of Supervisors will hold their first meeting of 2026 on Jan. 6, at the Oakhurst Government Center, making it the first board meeting in the newly reopened facility, which re-opened in 2024.

The meeting will start with the yearly vote to pass the gavel to a new board chair and vice chair. Current supervisor Bobby Macaulay, who is in consideration for chair said he is committed to leading with integrity and accountability while also putting an emphasis on community input.

“I am humbled to be considered for the role of Chair of the Madera County Board of Supervisors,” Macaulay said. “If given the opportunity to serve in this capacity, I will lead with integrity, accountability, and a deep commitment to listening to our community.”

The meeting will also include a special presentation officially naming Madera County the Carved Bear Capital of the World.

The open session is scheduled to begin at noon, a special start time for the meeting. Residents unable to attend in person may access the meeting virtually through the agenda link posted on the county’s website.
