The NICU at Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera now has a new way to help families connect with newborns thanks to a donation from The James G. Boswell Foundation.

The foundation donated 79 cameras installed at bedside to enhance family-centered care for parents unable to be physically present during the early moments of their newborn’s stay at the hospital. The AngelEye camera system has been in place since January thanks to a collaborative effort between the foundation and multiple Valley Children’s teams.

The system provides a secure, real-time video feed for families to keep an eye on their newborns from anywhere. It also provides a private space for bedside nurses to share messages, updates and help parents feel more comfortable and connected to their infant’s care.

The James G. Boswell Foundation has long been a supporter of Valley Children’s Healthcare. Earlier this year, Valley Children’s revealed that the foundation has donated approximately $5.5 million to the hospital in the past three years.

This donation from the foundation aims to utilize technology to bring comfort, reassurance and a sense of connection during the often challenging time that infants spend in the ICU.
