Fresno’s newest gas station to offer E85 fuel is hosting a special opening event tomorrow featuring free food, beverages and E85 fuel sold for 85 cents a gallon.

The Valero station at 3403 W. Ashlan Ave. in Fresno, at the corner of Valentine and Ashlan avenues, is hosting the event from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in conjunction with Pearson Fuels.

There will also be an E85 expert from Pearson Fuels on site to answer questions from customers.

Typically, E85 fuel is comprised of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline, compared to the typical gasoline blend in California of only 10 percent ethanol.

E85 can only be used in so-called flex-fuel vehicles.

The current average E85 price in California is $2.25 a gallon.
