Over recent weeks, one of the nation’s largest manufacturers of liquid fertilizers expanded into a factory north of Visalia.

Although the plant at 12222 Ave. 352 began operations in June, Illinois-based Brandt waited until today to announce the opening of its 42,000-square-foot production facility specializing in the making of fertilizers and liquid micronutrients, primarily for fruit and nut crops.

The new plant will create about a dozen new jobs.

Brandt bought the former fertilizer plant and renovated it because business has been growing, and the company had to expand its production, said Chandra Roberts, a company spokesperson.

The company has six other manufacturing plants in the U.S. and Brazil, with one other one in California — a 259,000-square-foot plant in Fresno.

“The Visalia location boasts many new manufacturing technologies,” a company press release states. “The new systems and processes will allow for faster production and customer order filling. The facility also has a 75 [kilowatt] solar panel system that will supply more energy than the facility will use.” “Innovation is at the heart of everything we do,” Bill Engel, Brandt executive vice president, said in the press release. “We continue to make significant investments in liquid nutrient production facilities that will allow us to provide customers with the very best products and overall experience.”
