A vacant lot northeast of Fresno’s Fashion Fair Mall is slated for development into a 90-unit apartment complex.

The 14,562-square-foot property at 5070 N. First St., at First Street and Shaw Avenue, was purchased by Sunrise Hospitality Group, Inc., which in California Secretary of State records lists its CEO as Tehal Thandi of Fowler.

Despite being called a hospitality group, Thandi said he is the sole investor in the project, which could break ground in a couple of years.

He said his plan is to build “economy” apartments on the vacant lot, and he declined to further discuss his plans.
