Kaweah Delta Medical Center has been named as one of the top 50 hospitals for Cardiac Care, according to a national study released this week by Healthgrades.

Kaweah Delta was also one of only 10 hospitals in California and the only one in the Central Valley to be in the top 100 list for this category.

“This is a consequence of our hard teamwork between the cardiac surgeons and our wonderful hospital staff,” said Dr. Sergio Caminha, medical director of cardiac surgery for Kaweah Delta. “It shows that we do provide high-quality services to our community.”

The achievement is part of a series of findings released last week in the “Healthgrades 2019 Report to the Nation.” The new report looked at clinical performance between hospitals, as well as health outcomes.

For the third year in a row, Kaweah Delta also received the Healthgrades Cardiac Surgery Excellence Award, along with a Five-Star rating in coronary bypass surgery and heart attack treatment. These ratings helped them further in receiving their second consecutive Healthgrades Cardiac Care Excellence Award.

Other programs to receive a five-star rating apart from cardiac care were hip fracture treatment, stroke, pneumonia, COPD, esophageal/stomach surgery, gallbladder removal, sepsis and respiratory failure. Kaweah Delta was named among the top 10 of hospitals in the nation for overall pulmonary services for the sixth year in a row, and was in the top 5 percent altogether.
