Valley Children’s Hospital announced on Tuesday a $2 million gift from the James G. Boswell Foundation, bringing the total amount donated by the foundation to $5.5 million over the past three years.

Valley Children’s Healthcare President and CEO Todd Suntrapak praised the generosity of the foundation and the investment’s capacity to fund the most urgent needs.

The donation, which will benefit the Children’s Fund, will provide resources to areas most in need of support at the hospital. The Children’s Fund helps strengthen a wide range of services and programs, including investing in state-of-the-art technology, advanced equipment and continued development of a highly-skilled clinical team.

Valley Children’s will remain in contact with the foundation throughout the year, sharing specific impact and results of the gift.

Last year, the James G. Boswell Foundation donated $3 million to the hospital to support cancer survivorship and adaptive sports programs, spiritual support programs and enhanced key social activities.

“The mission of Valley Children’s aligns closely with our values of compassion, responsibility and service to others,” said Cameron Boswell, vice president of finance and administration for the J.G. Boswell Co. “This gift represents more than financial support. It reflects our belief that every child deserves the opportunity to grow up healthy, have access to excellent care and thrive.”

Cameron Boswell is the fourth-generation member of the Boswell farming empire, founded in 1925 by James Griffin Boswell. The company owns more than 200,000 acres in the Central Valley.

Headquartered in Pasadena, the J.G. Boswell Co. operates in the southern San Joaquin Valley producing, processing and marketing cotton, tomatoes, oilseeds, orchards and cattle.
