The House of JuJu Restaurant in Old Town Clovis celebrated its new location today with a ribbon cutting, along with residents of the city, members of the Clovis Chamber of Commerce and representatives from state Senator Tom Berryhill and Assemblyman Jim Patterson’s office.

Located in the first floor of a brand new building at 565 N. Pollasky in the “SoFi” district, the restaurant has been serving gourmet burgers in Clovis since 2013, but now does so a mile up the street from its previous location — with more capacity.

The problem, according to owner Julie Glenn, was the wait-times at their old location.

“We loved what we had going on,” Glenn said. “But it got to the point where our waitlist was an hour and a half. Our place [was] so tiny we just couldn’t accommodate certain people.”

According to co-owner Scott Glenn, Julie’s husband, the demand at the restaurant had them receiving delivery trucks three times a week.

Now, the new location has almost triple the seating of the old one.

The restaurant began when Julie and her husband, Scott Glenn — who also owns On the Edge Coffee Shop in Clovis — wanted to open a restaurant.

They asked their son, Justin Glenn, who now manages the restaurant, what to serve and he knew gourmet burgers were the way to go.

He developed the menu and in a short amount of time, according to Julie, the House of JuJu was open, and the city of Clovis has been enjoying the family-owned restaurant ever since.
