Fresno Unified School District will host a series of public meetings in the next couple of weeks centered on its search for a new superintendent.

Previous Superintendent Michael Hanson was ousted by the board of trustees in January after 12 years helming the district, which is under federal investigation related to no-bid construction contracts.

Bob Nelson, Hanson’s chief of staff, has been acting as superintendent on an interim basis.

The community meetings will be held at each of the seven regional comprehensive high schools May 15-25. They are designed to allow parents, teachers, staff and community members an opportunity to share input and feedback to the board of trustees regarding the next superintendent.

The district is also encouraging community members to fill out an online survey.

The following meetings are scheduled (all times 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.):

May 15, Bullard High School Cafeteria
May 16, Edison High School Cafeteria
May 18, Roosevelt High School Auditorium
May 22, Sunnyside High School Small Gymnasium
May 23, Fresno High School Royce Hall
May 24, McLane High School Gymnasium
May 25, Hoover High School Cafeteria

According to the Fresno Unified website, the board hopes to approve a superintendent contract in August or September.
