After outsourcing radio broadcasting efforts, Fresno State Athletics is creating its own network for its fans.

Fresno State Athletics will broadcast over iHeartMedia via the new Bulldogs Sports Network starting July 1.

Fresno’s One Putt Broadcasting previously head the radio broadcasting rights to Fresno State Athletics.

Zachary Fraser, general manager of Bulldog Sports Properties, described the partnership as an investment on behalf of Bulldog Sports Properties that the department expects will bring in revenue long term. The exact cost was not disclosed.

Previously, Fresno State Athletics outsourced its broadcasting, disjointing the revenue stream and segmenting the reach to fans, according to a new release. Now under Bulldogs Sports Network, the broadcasting and media efforts will stay in-house. The revenue will generate directly for Fresno State Athletics.

“This exciting new partnership between iHeartMedia and Fresno State Athletics is a huge win for Bulldog fans up and down the valley,” said iHeartMedia Area President Steve Darnell. “In addition to airing live game action, our iHeartMedia influencers will create exciting audio, digital, social, and podcast content to enhance the Bulldog Sports Network across all of our Central California iHeartMedia station brands.”

Live games will be broadcasted on the radio for football, men’s and women’s basketball, softball and baseball. The Bulldog Sports Network will also host coaches and air highlights throughout the year to be aired live on select channels. It will also be available on a podcast channel through both the iHeartRadio and Fresno State Bulldogs apps.

Eventually the amount of content creation and the volume of podcasting and media broadcasting could add jobs, though not immediately, Fraser said.

Fans can tune their radios anywhere from Sacramento to Bakersfield, listen digitally statewide with the iHeartRadio mobile app, or listen from around the world through the Fresno State Bulldogs app.

“We are excited to partner with iHeartMedia to bring the Bulldog Sports Network to our passionate Red Wave fan base throughout the Valley and far beyond,” said Fresno State Director of Athletics Terry Tumey. “iHeartMedia is well regarded as a world renowned media company that will further enhance our ability to advance the Fresno State brand, engage our longtime fans, and reach new audiences.”

New podcasts and live content featuring coaches, student athletes and Fresno State contributors will be consistently developed, and will air on popular radio stations like B95, 102.7 The Wolf, 203.7 The Beat.

iHeartRadio’s partnership with Fresno State will be visible with in-stadium support and tailgate exposure.

It will also make advertising for corporate partners more seamless, and since advertising has historically been segmented, Fraser expects to save advertising partners some money.

“We can’t wait to bring the passion of Fresno State to more fans in additional markets, and to expand opportunities for our sponsors including visibility within the iHeartMedia family,” said Fraser. “I’m looking forward to working with iHeartMedia and know its powerful digital connections will strengthen the connection to the existing fan base, while reaching a new generation of fans ready to be part of the Red Wave.”
