As housing pressure grows across the Central Valley, local leaders and real estate experts will host a panel on Thursday, Oct. 16 at Fresno State discussing long-term housing sustainability.

The event is hosted by the Center for California Real Estate (CCRE) in partnership with the Fresno State Gazarian Real Estate Center, the event — “Central Valley Strategies: Local Pathways to Housing Progress” — will focus on strategies including new construction, zoning reform and regional coordination to address the Central Valley’s housing needs. 

The panel will include Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer — a well-known affordable housing advocate; CivicWell CEO Bernadette Austin; and Visionary Home Builders of California President and CEO Carol J. Ornelas. 

CivicWell is a Sacramento-based nonprofit that works with community leaders on sustainability. Visionary Home Builders in Stockton is a nonprofit housing developer.

Andres Jauregui, director of the Gazarian Real Estate Center, will serve as moderator.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Fresno State’s Alice Peters Auditorium in the University Business Center at the Craig School of Business.

CCRE is an institute of the California Association of Realtors and promotes research and collaboration on key housing issues statewide. Attendance for the event is free.
