A 40-year-old sandwich vendor is offering lifetime discounts as a fundraiser to reopen the doors of its flagship location in Fresno.

Geno’s Sandwiches & Salads put up a GoFundMe page Monday offering price cuts from 5%-40% on their submarine-type sandwiches in exchange for donations.

A pledge of $15 gets 5% off for life, and a pledge of $250 gets 40% off for life, with other levels in-between.

They are asking for a total of $50,000 to reopen their four-decades-old deli at 1615 E. Ashlan Ave. in central Fresno. By Wednesday afternoon, they had raised $2,700 with 46 donors. By Friday afternoon, they had raised $4,205 with 68 donors.

Attempts to reach out to Shawn Warehime of Geno’s were not returned.

After opening their second location, Geno’s ToGo at Cedar and Herndon avenues, the owners were left without any savings and anything to fall back on, according to the GoFundMe page. A health problem forced them to shudder the doors.

“Unfortunately, with Cedar still unable to profit on its own, and Ashlan showing no sales since October, we have now exhausted our options. We need to fully restock both stores and pay off vendors and such, atop the renovations and inspections to reopen,” the GoFundMe account stated.
