A former NFL quarterback has accepted a new position with a Madera-based business specializing in crop management solutions.

Deerpoint Group, Inc. announced that Jeff Tuel has joined the company as director of sales.

A Clovis West High School graduate, Tuel is a former NFL quarterback with the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars and standout football player for Washington State.

He previously served as vice president of sales for Greenbrier Holdings as the company built its cannabis processing and retail facility in Parlier in 2019 under the “Cannable” name.

In a news release, officials with Deerpoint Group said Tuel’s leadership history will serve the company well. Deerpoint is the provider of a patented system that applies crop fertilizer though farm irrigation — a process called “fertigation.”

We are excited for Jeff to join Deerpoint at this landmark point in our company’s history” said Deborah Miller, president and co-founder. “As a new member of our Executive Team, he will help to guide the company in new and even-more innovative directions in 2023 — our 30th anniversary year.”

For his part, Tuel said the Deerpoint Group felt like home from the first visit.

“They have a team of like-minded individuals who are passionate and energetic about bringing new solutions to growers across the Valley,” Tuel said. “Their focus on servicing the customer above all else brings a refreshing attitude and drive to the workplace. My prior experiences have taught me that discipline, accountability, and old-fashioned hard work will take you wherever you want to go in life. I’m happy to join a team that lives and breathes these traits at their core.”
