Fresno’s second Red Onion Hamburger restaurant could reopen later this week.

The restaurant at 1340 Fresno St., just east of the Highway 99 northbound offramp, opened last year and operated about four months when the owners shut it down nearly three months ago.

Najib Nagi, who along with his family own another Red Onion at 555 W. Belmont Ave. in Fresno across from Roeding Park that opened last year, and two others in Porterville, cited unspecified employee issues as the reason for the closure.

Nagi was at the restaurant Monday overseeing work to get it going again. He estimated the restaurant likely will reopen Thursday or Saturday.
