The annual publication beat out The Sacramento Business Journal in the category of Special Section in the division for California weeklies with circulations of up to 11,000 readers.
The results were announced Saturday during the CNPA’s annual conference, held this year in San Francisco.
The Health Care 2016 supplement will be inserted in the July 1 print edition of The Business Journal.
The Business Journal also earned two 2nd-place awards in the categories for Online General Execellence and Coverage of Business News.
The Sacramento Business Journal bested The Business Journal in the category for Coverage of Business News, with reporter George Lurie earning a 2nd-place award for his piece on local real estate professionals taking self-defense classes to protect themselves on the job.
The Business Journal is also the recipient of a national Editorial Excellence award from the Alliance of Area Business Publishers (AABP), which consists of 70 business-to-business regional publications from the U.S., Canada, Australia and Puerto Rico.
The level of that award — bronze, silver or gold — will be announced June 11 during the Alliance’s 2016 Summer Conference in Des Moines, Iowa.
The last time The Business Journal won a national-level AABP award was 2013.
