Our New Year’s resolution? To reaffirm our mission to provide the most comprehensive and exclusive business coverage in the Central Valley.
Our reporters plan to hit more events this year, meet more people and tell more stories. If you know about a story we should cover, contact Editor Gabriel Dillard.
The Business Journal’s editorial board published the following message in the Dec. 26 issue. We’d like to share it here for our web readers:
As we close the books on 2025, we find ourselves reflecting not on the headlines themselves, but on the people behind them.
This year brought its share of challenges — nagging inflation, farmland market upheaval, federal policy shifts, employment headwinds. But it also brought moments that remind us why we do this work: a family taking over the iconic Superior Dairy in Hanford, new industrial properties in the pipeline, a downtown secured $100 million for revival, an airport transformation completed.
None of these stories exist without you.
To the business owners who answered our calls even during their busiest seasons, who trusted us with their struggles and their successes — thank you. To the workers who show up every day to farms, hospitals, restaurants, construction sites and offices throughout Fresno, Kings, Madera and Tulare counties — your labor powers everything we cover.
To the public servants navigating budget constraints and policy changes, to the nonprofit leaders stretching every dollar, to the entrepreneurs taking risks when the economic outlook offers little certainty — you are the backbone of this region’s economy.
And to our readers, who hold us accountable, who share our stories, who support local journalism even as the industry faces its own challenges — we don’t take you for granted. Your engagement makes this work matter.
The Central Valley doesn’t always get the attention it deserves. But the Business Journal exists because this region’s economy, its people and its future are worth chronicling, worth celebrating and worth fighting for.
As we head into 2026, we renew our commitment to telling your stories with accuracy, fairness and the respect they deserve.
Thank you for trusting us with them.
