Craig Scharton, owner of Peeve’s Public House on the Fulton Mall, announced on Facebook this morning that the pub will close for a couple of weeks.

According to the post, Scharton is working with potential investors to access the capital needed to make it through the re-opening of Fulton Street. Construction on the mall kicked off a little more than a month ago, and is expected to take about a year.

“Honestly, we’ve been hanging near the edge of the cliff for 2 ½ years. I’ve invested everything that I have, and we’ve mostly survived because of our great community of customers. Now it’s time to bring in some more investment and some more experience and that’s what we’re working toward,” Scharton wrote.

He added that Peeve’s will undergo some changes, including renovations of the kitchen and restrooms.

“We hope that you’ll hang in there with us as we keep striving to make a place for community to happen. Think of this as a bar makeover or restaurant impossible show,” he wrote.

Peeve’s will be open Saturday night from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., and again on Sunday at 8 a.m. for an Arsenal Football Club match. Scharton said it will also be open for certain special events that will be updated on Facebook.

Peeve’s recently cut back on hours, shutting its doors on Mondays and Tuesdays.
