Locally owned Fresno breakfast and lunch restaurant Batter Up Pancakes is working on plans to open a second location, according to President Jeff Colla.

The second location at 1610 Herndon Ave., Suite 106, in Clovis will take the space previously occupied by Dickey’s BBQ. Renovations on the site will begin this month with a targeted opening date later this year.

The location, which will serve the same menu and operate the same as their original location, hopes to open within three to four months, according to Colla.

“Equipment’s a problem sometimes because it can take an extra month or two to get a griddle and things like that,” he said, adding that there will be renovations taking place prior to the location’s opening this summer.

“It will be a carbon copy of our existing location on Cedar and Nees,” Colla said, adding that the new location will seat anywhere from 60 to 70 guests.

Colla said the restaurant has hoped to open a second location for years.

“Finally we found the right location and we jumped on it,” said Colla, adding that the company has been actively searching for a new location since around February 2021.

Colla added that the business hoped to find a second generation restaurant space in order to help reduce some of the costs associated with constructing their own establishment.

“We’re excited to go into Clovis; we’ve been eyeing Clovis for years and just the right location came up,” Colla said. “We’re excited to make this leap.”
