Home chefs in Selma will have to find a new spot to get their ingredients with the closure of a long-serving Save Mart.

According to Victoria Castro, public affairs manager for the Modesto-based Save Mart Co., the store — which had its last day Friday — reached the expiration of its lease, and officials decided to close the location. Castro said all 33 staff members will be transferred to positions at nearby stores.

“Save Mart has been serving the Selma community since 1986,” Castro said. “We hope our shoppers choose to continue shopping with us at our Kingsburg Save Mart located on 909 Sierra St., or our Reedley store, located on 1580 E. Manning Ave.”

There are currently no plans to open a new location in Selma at this time.

Save Mart closed a store in Fresno at Blackstone and Ashlan avenues in 2015, and stores in Sanger and Kerman closed in 2010.

The chain operates more than 200 stores under the banners of Save Mart, Lucky, Lucky California, FoodMaxx, S-Mart Foods and Maxx Value Foods in Northern California and Nevada.
