The latest study from automotive website iSeeCars.com found that new cars are priced an average of 8.8% above suggested price nationally, even with improving supply chains and higher interest rates.
In the Fresno metro area, the study found the average new car is priced 11.3%, or $4,248, above MSRP (manufacturer’s suggested retail price).
Topping the list of places with new vehicles priced the highest over MSRP is San Diego at 40%, or $10,054 .
The Fresno metro area is ranked 32 out of 42 metro areas with a 27% markup, or $6,809 above MSRP.
The Orlando-Daytona Beach metro had the lowest markups on the list at 26.1%, or $6,956 above MSRP.
The new cars priced the highest above MSRP in the Fresno-Visalia area are:
- Ford Maverick, 27% ($6,809) above MSRP
- Toyota Camry Hybrid, 23.3% ($7,204) above MSRP
- Kia K5, 23.2% ($6,245) above MSRP
- Toyota Corolla Cross, 21.8% ($5,921) above MSRP
- Ford Escape, 21.3% ($6,213) above MSRP
For this study, iSeeCars.com, analyzed over 12 million new car sales from February 2022 through February 2023.
