Community Medical Centers recently celebrated its first gift of $75,000 to benefit a regional cancer treatment and research center to be built at Clovis Community Hospital.

Design work for the $65 million center began in May, with a projected opening date in 2018.

As the project’s first major donor, Wells Fargo officials said the gift is meant to benefit the community as a whole.

“There are many people that depend on Community Medical Centers, and our hope by providing support to Community Medical Centers, along with all other great institutions, is that we will be able to continue these great services for our families, friends and loved ones,” said Sandy Raco, Wells Fargo Central Valley market president, in a video.

The facility will be the only comprehensive cancer center of its kind in the San Joaquin Valley.
