Registration is open but space is extremely limited for a first-of-its-kind event for small businesses Tuesday.

The Small Business Administration office in Downtown Fresno is hosting the inaugural Fresno Contracting Summit, seeking to connect local small businesses with information, resources and experts to help them start up, scale up and succeed in doing business with the government.

The event is free but only eight spots remained as of Monday morning, said Dawn Golik, Fresno SBA District Director.

“The Fresno Contracting Summit will connect small businesses with some of this region’s largest government buyers,” Golik said.

The event includes networking and presentations from federal, state and local government contracting officials, information from SBA funded organizations that provide small businesses with free consulting and technical assistance, and other services that support companies who want to expand their government contracting opportunities.

“The SBA, along with our resource partners and local contracting officials are working together to help Fresno’s small businesses make government agencies their biggest customers,” added Golik.

Registration is required to attend the Fresno Contracting Summit, which kicks off with a 7:30 a.m. check in and panel discussions through 11 a.m. with presenter networking at noon. For more information and to see a full agenda for the Fresno Contracting Summit, please visit the SBA Fresno District webpage.

Golik said there are discussions with local contracting officials who are speaking at tomorrow’s event for the possibility of doing a future virtual workshop.

“Clearly there is great interest in this information,” Golik said.

The event is being hosted during SBA’s National Small Business Week, which acknowledges the contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. This year, National Small Business Week takes place April 28 – May 4.  This year’s activities include in-person events across the country and an educational virtual summit on a variety of business topics.
