Valley Children’s Hospital has been named a top children’s hospital by The Leapfrog Group, representing one of only eight children’s hospitals nationwide to receive the award.

The recognition places Valley Children’s Hospital among the top 3% of children’s hospitals for safety and quality of care – the fourth time the hospital has received recognition as a top children’s hospital.

“We are proud to be recognized again as a Top Children’s Hospital in the country as it is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our deserving staff who exceed the nation’s toughest standards and make it possible for kids in the Valley to have access to the best care available in the country,” said Dr. David Christensen, Valley Children’s senior vice president, chief physician executive and Valley Children’s Medical Group president. “This award reaffirms the unwavering efforts of our teams who have a deep understanding of the specific challenges and complexities that our patients and their families face.”

Valley Children’s Hospital was selected out of more than 2,100 hospitals that were considered for the award.

“Achieving this award is only possible due to the incredible work of every single team member at Valley Children’s, clinical and non-clinical, because in our united commitment to delivering the best care, every role has an impact on the quality and safety of patient care,” said Raed Khoury, Valley Children’s vice president of Quality, Patient Safety and Clinical Value.

Khoury received the award on behalf of the hospital at the Leapfrog Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner in Washington D.C. earlier this month.

The quality of patient care takes into account many areas of hospital performance including infection rates, practices for safer surgeries, maternity care and the hospital’s ability to prevent medication errors.
