A partnership between Fresno design firm Tangram Interiors and furnishings supplier Kimball International will bring color and creativity to kids at Valley Children’s Hospital this Halloween through its “Capes for Kids” initiative.

The event invited local businesses and organizations to design superhero-themed capes to be worn by patients at the hospital.

Alyssa Armesto, Tangram’s Fresno vice president, said Tangram first heard about the initiative through Kimball International, which had participated in a Capes for Kids program in Texas. There they saw over 30 capes decorated and donated to children at a local children’s hospital.

Tangram initially planned to send out 30 kits, but interest quickly grew. “At the end of the day, there was so much interest from the community, we distributed over 80 cape kits and we got back 74,” Armesto said.

“I think it’s a true testimony to the pride we have here in the Valley that we all kind of rally together to give back and support,” she added.

Participants include Teter Architects, G.L. Bruno Associates, Quiring General, West Hills College, Fresno State, Community Health System and more.
