A nearly 100-year-old legacy will enter a new chapter this weekend with a ribbon cutting for Piemonte’s Deli in Tower District, one of the longest-running Fresno restaurants, as the business transfers ownership.

Madison “Maddie” Lindsey Martinez and her mother Julie “Jules” Lindsey Catanzarite, will assume ownership of the store, a Fresno institution since 1929. Over the past six years, Martinez has managed the deli, fostering connections of trust and love for the community, according to a news release from the Fresno Chamber of Commerce.

The new owners purchased the restaurant from longtime owners Nancy and Neil Eberwein.

Catanzarite brings with her 26 years of management experience at Livingstone’s Restaurant & Pub, another longtime local eatery, according to the release.

The ribbon cutting takes place at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 at 616 E. Olive Ave., and will welcome leadership from the city.
