Cardella Winery and Moravia Wines were among the big winners of the 2019 San Joaquin Wine Competition, held last week at Total Wine & More in Fresno.

In all, 90 medals were given out to wines and wineries from throughout the state.

Cardella Winery won a gold medal for its Ruby Cabernet Reserve. Moravia Wines also took gold for its 2016 Fresno County Albarino.

Other local wineries earning medals include Fresno State Winery with silver for its 2018 Rose and Kings River Winery in Sanger with two silvers for its Alicante Bouchet and Tempranillo. The two wineries also won bronze awards.

Santa Barbara Winery won Gold Best of Show Honors for its 2016 San Ynez Valley Rieseling Dry. Intercoast Vineyard in Lodi also won Gold Best of Show for its 2017 Verdelho.

This was the second year of a partnership between the San Joaquin Valley Wine Competition and Total Wine.
