NONPROFITS

After a month-long donation drive hosted by Fresno Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Dental Implant Center to collect oral hygiene supplies for the Central California Food Bank, they are proud to announce collecting over $1,400 in oral hygiene products, like toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss, and $838 in monetary donations. The donations were delivered to Central California Food Bank Friday.

EDUCATION

State Center Community College District will honor the 2019 Wall of Honor inductees during a special ceremony Thursday, February 28, 2019 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Fresno City College in the Old Administration Building, Room 251.  This year’s inductees include Dr. Paul Binion, Renee Craig-Marius, and Sam U. Lane, Jr. (posthumously).

Dr. Paul Binion is the pastor at Westside Church of God in West Fresno as well as founder and chairman of the Southwest Fresno Development Corporation, Renee Craig-Marius is the vice president of student services at Reedley College which oversees Madera and Oakhurst Community College Centers, and Sam U. Lane, Jr. pioneered the Black Studies program at Fresno City College.  Attached are bios for each of the honorees.

NONPROFITS

Mi Familia Vota was awarded four Reed Awards, including “Non-Profit Grassroots Organization of the Year.” The Reed Awards are the “Oscars” of political campaigns; they embody excellence in political campaign work.

The “Non-Profit Grassroots Organization of the Year” award reflects the hard work of field — registering voters, providing citizenship workshops, and organizing the community — in coordination with communication staff efforts to maximizing outreach efforts in the Latino community in preparation for the 2018 midterm elections, MFV registered to vote over 82,000 people and led the “USA Tu Poder” and “Show Up” digital campaigns that reached millions of Latinos through television, radio, and social media.
