If you travel along Van Ness Avenue near Fresno City College, you may have noticed a new business with “The Hub” on a sign out front of a former dental office.

It’s no coffee house where college students gather, or a restaurant. This place is about real estate, said Michael Zuber, a former Silicon Valley executive who retired in his 40s and lives off the proceeds from rents of more than 200 homes he owns.

He also bought the building at 1567 N. Van Ness Ave. and had it remodeled as a small series of offices with the intent of bringing in different experts on home real estate investment — a couple of brokers, a couple of professional home-buying businesses, some flippers and even a licensed contractor who specializes in home repairs and upgrades.

“The Hub is a collection of real estate professionals from different organizations that try to help people invest or buy … homes,” said Zuber, who also authored a book on real estate investing, “One Rental at a Time.”

“This is not some umbrella firm with other entities underneath it. These are eight independent companies who are leasing space. I own the building, and I selected people to be part of this,” said Zuber, who is occupying one of the office spaces from which he oversees his own real estate interests.

So somebody looking to sell a home quickly to a cash buyer might come in to work with one of the homebuyers, which includes Zuber, who also is a “holder,” somebody who fixes up a home and rents it rather than flipping it.

Customers also could come in looking to buy or sell a home in a more standard manner, and one of the Realtors might refer clients to the contractor to fix up a home to get a better selling price.

Michael Hernandez, one of the Realtors at The Hub, said he sometimes buys properties or he might refer a client to one of the home buying businesses if his client is looking for a quick sale.

Zuber, who has a YouTube channel under the same name as his book, said people frequently ask him where to go and how to start building wealth through real estate, and this is a “one-stop” place to do that.
