Following the success of Chipotle Mexican Grill’s “Chipotlane” drive-thru style additions, landing first in Northwest Fresno in 2022 and last year in Clovis, the popular Mexican restaurant chain opened its third Fresno County drive-up location Friday.

Geared towards streamlining the online ordering process, Chipotle’s “Chipotlanes” allow customers to quickly pick up orders placed online, saving them a trip inside the restaurant — and through the summer heat — by serving digital orders in the comfort of their vehicles.

Located at 15215 W. Whitesbridge Ave., Friday’s grand opening showcased the company’s drive-thru style window. While not used to place traditional on-the-spot drive-thru orders, the windows have proven to expedite order pickups for customers and food-delivery drivers.

Each Chipotle location employs about 30 people.

Chipotlanes began appearing in early 2018, according to QSR, a publication that shares reports on quick-service restaurants. The service had not only allowed the company to explore new markets for growth, like Kerman, but looks to expand their overall return, with an initial investment cost of an additional $75,000 to $85,000 providing “by far, a superior return,” Chipotle Chief Financial Officer Jack Hartung said in 2021.

Friday’s opening also gave customers the opportunity to try out the brand’s newest dip — Adobo Ranch — as well as taking advantage of Chipotle Rewards, which is in the process of giving away $1 million of free Chipotle.

Chipotle also offers local residents the opportunity to fundraise, supporting local schools and organizations.
