A new era of leadership has been announced for Copper River Country Club in Fresno.

Beginning Nov. 1, Bellagio Road, LLC, started leasing the country club under the leadership of Bob Husband, according to a letter being sent to members provided to The Business Journal.

Bellagio Road is described as a “boutique golf and resort ownership and management company.” It is based in Del Mar in San Diego County.

While the details of the lease were not disclosed, the letter – signed by club founders Earlene and Bill Tatham, Sr. –states the Tathams will retain ownership of the facility.

“Our family will remain owners of the Club’s assets, and so we’ll have a vested interest in seeing it thrive,” the letter states. Bellagio Road will be in charge of business operations, the letter continued.

The club off Copper Avenue south of Friant Road, previously a vineyard, opened for play in 1995. The 30,000 square-foot clubhouse was unveiled the next year, according to Copper River’s website.

It also features amenities including tennis courts, restaurants, daycare and fitness center.

Last year, it was voted “Best Golf Course to Take a Client” as part of the Best of Central Valley Business Reader’s Choice Awards.

Husband, the new head of operations, has been in the golf industry for 38 years, and has built four golf ownership companies, according to a bio on the Bellagio Road website. These include the Cobblestone Golf Group and Heritage Golf Group, among others.

He was the cofounder of a company that became CCA/GolfCorp, a subsidiary of Club Corporation of America. While at GolfCorp, the company grew to over 40 facilities in 1991, making it the second largest public golf facility operator in the country, the website states.
