A promotion at City Hall means a new deputy city manager for the City of Fresno.

Aldi Dodds replaces current Deputy City Manager Laura Merrill, according to a press release from the City.

“I am thrilled and delighted to have Aldi join our office in this capacity and know she will excel and exceed all of our expectations. Laura Merrill has done an exceptional job in the Deputy City Manager role. I will miss her terribly as I know others inside and outside the City will feel the same. I am very fortunate that Laura has agreed to help with Aldi’s transition,” said City Manager Wilma Quan in the release.

As deputy city manager, Dodds will handle administrative and managerial work as well as work with departments and staff on city-wide projects and activities.

Dodds began with the City of Fresno in 2016 in the Parking Services Division. She later worked in the Development and Resource Management Department as a management analyst.

More recently, she was senior management analyst for the Housing and Community Development Division.

Dodds graduated Summa Cum Laude from Fresno State with a master’s degree in business administration. She also has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Fresno State as a Smittcamp Scholar.
