A popular Latino and family-owned grocery chain will be coming to Clovis with a grand opening on Nov. 20.

The grand opening will be at 8 a.m., and the ribbon cutting will follow an hour later.

With the addition of the new Clovis location next week, Vallarta Supermarkets will now have 56 locations across California.

The new location, 170 W. Shaw Ave. near Shaw and Villa avenues, will be the fourth in Fresno County. The other locations are in central Fresno, near Granite Park; West Fresno off of Highway 99 and Southeast Fresno, near Fresno Pacific University.

According to a news release, the new Vallarta will be one of the largest in California, with 51,204 square feet and 218 new jobs. It’s located in the Village Square Shopping Center.

The Clovis location will feature several fan-favorite departments from other stores: Guacamole Station, Sushi, La Isla, La Fruteria, Cremería, Panaderia, Carniceria, Tortilleria, La Cocina, Dulcería and Florería.

Vallarta Supermarkets will donate $7,500 to local schools and charities, and the first 300 customers on Nov. 20 will receive a reusable grocery bag pre-filled with groceries.

“We have felt the excitement for this new location and are excited to finally open our doors to the residents of Clovis,” Lizette Gomez, Vallarta’s director of marketing, said in a news release. “Every time we open a new location, the hope is to make it better and bring something special to the community. Whether it’s quality produce and ready-to-eat food or service that makes customers feel like family, Vallarta’s goal is to make a positive impact.”

Vallarta Supermarkets also offers a delivery service called Vallarta Go, which allows customers to order food and groceries.
