An agreement has been reached by Cars.com, Inc. and McClatchy to convert affiliate markets into the automotive site’s sales channel. One of the 17 remaining markets to be impacted by this action will be Fresno.

The new agreement will include marketing support payments through 2019, reflecting a continuing partnership between McClatchy and Cars.com and will introduce digital advertising solutions for dealer customers. McClatchy will also further promote Cars.com in its markets.

McClatchy Co. is also the owner of The Fresno Bee.

“We are pleased to accelerate the conversion of these markets into our direct sales channel so that we can work directly with the dealers in each market to provide more value and give Cars.com a new platform to increase market share,” said Alex Vetter, president and CEO of Cars.com. “Our experienced sales team will be on the ground deepening relationships with local retailers to help them optimize the full breath of Cars.com’s solutions.”

The transition will occur throughout the year.
