Dan Adams, president and general manager for ABC30 KFSN-TV in Fresno, has received a promotion from ABC.

ABC Owned Television Stations President Wendy McMahon announced the new role of vice president of finance and business planning for Disney’s television division, which Adams will be assuming in March.

KFSN will immediately commence a search for the role of general manager. Adams will remain in his role during the transition, according to a news release.

“Dan’s leadership of the finance team will be instrumental in helping us to advance in our next chapter at the ABC Owned Television Stations,” McMahon. “As we continue to modernize our stations to thrive in the next era of multi-platform news, our strength as a collective is integral in our ability to succeed.”

Adams was named president and general manager of KFSN-TV in Fresno in February 2009, where he had overall responsibility of the station’s television broadcast services and also oversaw KFSN-TV’s ABC30.com web site as well as other local business systems.

“I’m grateful for a wonderful 11 years in Fresno working with the dedicated team at KFSN/ABC30 to proudly serve our community,” Adams said. “As I take on this new post working across all of the owned stations, I’m thrilled to help write the next chapter in this extraordinary legacy.”

A veteran local television station executive, he was vice president and business manager at ABC-owned KTRK-TV in Houston prior to moving to Fresno. Prior to joining ABC Owned Television Stations 22 years ago, Adams was vice president of finance at Fox Television Stations’ KTVI-TV in St. Louis. He also has held station and group management positions for Argyle Television in St. Louis, Missouri; River City Broadcasting in Des Moines, Iowa; Palmer Communications in Fort Myers, Florida; and WOC-TV, WOC-AM and KIIK-FM in Davenport, Iowa.

He serves on the board of directors of the Fresno Historical Society, Valley Children’s Hospital and Marjaree Mason Center. He is also board chair of the Valley Children’s Hospital Foundation. He received a Bachelor of Arts in accounting and business administration from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.
