Local venture capital group Central Valley Angel Group has announced an investment in QualSights, adding another company to its portfolio.

Based in Chicago, QualSights bills itself as a “qualitative insights platform that provides brands, agencies and consulting firms a dramatically faster and more affordable way to generate deeper insights on a global scale.”

The firm uses software and mobile camera equipment to remotely observe and interact with consumers as they shop for and use products. Their platform is also used by the tourism, education, hospitality and other industries to give a live and personalized virtual tour of any location when a physical visit was not practical.

QualSights CEO and founder Nihal Advani stated: “The investment from Central Valley Angel Group will help our company scale sales and marketing, and add to our customer support team to better serve our growing client base.”

Emory Wishon, fund chairman for Central Valley Angel Group, which was formed in 2015 and invests in high-growth, early stage companies, said that the group has high hopes for its involvement with QualSights.

“We have great confidence in the vision of Nihal Advani and his strategy for developing and implementing this innovative service through QualSights,” Wishon said. “The company has an excellent initial customer base and should be able to grow substantially in the future. We are very pleased to be a part of the QualSights team.”

The amount and terms of the investment were not disclosed.
