Patients in Tulare County can expect shorter waiting times for heart care with the opening of a new cardiology clinic in Visalia.

Located at 820 S. Akers St., the 13,000-square foot Kaweah Delta Cardiology clinic is the result of a partnership with doctors David Cislowski, Ankur Gupta, Dennis Johnson and Harry Lively of Sequoia Cardiology Medical Group. Kaweah Delta celebrated the clinic opening Monday evening with an open house at the site.

“This clinic is definitely serving a need because heart care is one of the highest specialty demands in the area,” said Tracy Salsa, project manager for the Sequoia Cardiology Clinic. “With diabetes being so prevalent and the cardiac complications related to it, someone who needs to see a cardiologist can face a long wait in Tulare County.”

The services offered by the clinic will include general cardiology, imaging and noninvasive techniques, along with nuclear medicine and echocardiography. The clinic will further give patients the ability to evaluate and manage congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, peripheral valve disease, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

“There is really not another local clinic that has all the diversity that will be available here,” said Barry Royce, director of Kaweah Delta’s Cardiovascular Service Lines. “We have interventional cardiology, general cardiology and electrophysiology. Most clinics have only one of these cardiology specialties.”

Through the partnership, the Kaweah Delta Health Care District owns and operates the clinic, leaving the doctors to focus on patient care.
