Fresno’s Hustler Hollywood store has set a grand opening date of Sept. 30, with a planned special appearance by controversial founder Larry Flynt.

Located at the former Silver Dollar Hofbrau location at 333 E. Shaw Avenue just off Highway 41, the 6 p.m. event is free and open to the public, according to a news release.
“Fresno is a great city, and we look forward to a long relationship with this wonderful community,” Flynt said in a written statement.
Attendees are promised a celebration that will include food, drinks, giveaways and prizes along with gift bags for the first 50 people who come through the doors.
Controversy arose when the store began eyeing development back in 2015, when the company executed a lease for the property.
Sudden changes to the city’s zoning codes that would have prevented the opening of the store prompted a lawsuit by HH-Fresno, LLC, claiming that the city violated the company’s first amendment rights by targeting them as an adult-themed store.
In May of this year, the Fresno Bee reported that the City of Fresno settled with HH-Fresno, LLC, offering $15,000 as compensation for the company’s attorney fees.
